It’s official: Baku, capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan, will host – from 29th to 31st October 2014 – the “2nd Baku International FICTS Sport Films Festival”.

The International event – organized by Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan in collaboration with the Ministry of Sport and Youth and the Azerbaijani Olympic Committee – it’s part of the “World FICTS Challenge” Worldwide Championship of Cinema and Sport Television articulated into 18 Festivals in the 5 Continents organized by FICTS (Fédération Internationale Cinéma Télévision Sportifs, joined with 113 Countries) recognized by the IOC.

The “2nd Baku International FICTS Sport Films Festival” will take place at the “Nizami Cinema Center” multifunctional cinema (the largest theatre in the South Caucasus) which will also host the Opening and Awarding Ceremonies.

The Memorandum together with FICTS was started in Baku during the meeting of President Prof. Franco Ascani together with Dr Abulfas Garayev Minister of Culture and Tourism.

The Festival will be a promotional moment for sport in Azerbaijan on the eve of the first edition of the “European Games” that will take place in June 2015 and will involve around 6000 competitors from 49 Olympic Nations of Europe across 18 sports.

Baku, city of sport, culture and communication, will also be the seat – from 27th April to 1st May 2014 – of the 77th Congress of the AIPS (International Sports Press Association) chaired by Gianni Merlo.
