Enzo Ferrari: the red and the black, winner of the 13 Edition BCN Sportsfilm FICTS Festival 2023

The “Awarding Ceremony” (watch again on Youtube channel of FBO) of the 13th Edition “BCN Sports Film – Barcelona International FICTS Festival”, held at the Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch has been a meeting point between the world of cinema, sport, politics and society. 

Enzo Ferrari: the Red and the Black” has been proclaimed the winner of this new edition.

Among the eight winners, four productions are Catalan.

David Escudé, President of the Fundació Barcelona Olímpica and sports Councilor of the Barcelona City Council, was in charge of awarding the Amphora Ciutat de Barcelona for the best film of the 13th edition of the BCN Sports Film to “ENZO FERRARI: THE RED AND THE BLACK”, an Italian production directed by Enrico Cerasuolo and produced by Massimo Arvat, which tells the story of the Ferrari legend. The documentary explains how the man with the famous dark glasses dedicated his life to the love of the automobile, distinguished by success and tragedy, light and darkness, and red and black. 

The Jury’s special prize – made up of Josep Roca, a graduate in Hispanic philology and coordinator of major sporting events at the Barcelona City Council; Lídia Flaqué, a graduate in Education Sciences; José Luís Beltrán, a graduate in Business Studies and Tourism, who has participated in various film-themed dissemination activities and Marguerite Hayter, with a degree in theatre and a master’s degree in film with extensive experience in documentary filmmaking, fiction and advertising – was for L’AVVERSARIO, an Italian film directed by Federico Russotto and produced by CSC Production.

The BCN Sports Film Festival is characterized by the diversity of awards, which this year have been given to: 

  • Best Animation Production Award 

EGOLAND: a Catalan production about the risks of mountaineering and meteorology. David Escudé presented the award to Ignasi López, director, and Ana Vega, producer and dubbing actress of the work.

  • Award for the best documentary production

THE QUEEN OF BASKETBALL: U.S. production that won the Oscar for best documentary short in 2022. The work, directed by Ben Proudfoot and Elizabeth Brooke, is a portrait of the story of Lusia “Lucy” Harris, who scored the first female Olympic basket. The award was collected by Pere Francitorra, first vice-president of the Catalan Basketball Federation and president of the Centenary Commission of this entity. 

  • Award for best fiction production  

PENALTY SHOT: a Croatian production directed by Rok Bicek and produced by Danijel Pek, Katarina Prpic, Rok Bicek and Tea Matanovic. The young protagonists, Gabrijel Dolenec (Franc) and David Ivanovic (Matija), have sent a video thanking them for the award. 

  • Best Adventure Sports Production Award – Alvaro Bultó

PARIS, LA MECA DEL PARKOUR: a documentary about parkour that takes us to the capital of France with two friends who travel through the most emblematic places for the practice of this sport. David Escudé presented the award to Biel Macià, director, producer and star of the film.

  • Award for best Catalan production

PERSEGUINT UN SOMNI: documentary that runs through the life of the world’s best footballer, Alexia Putellas, and affects equality between boys and girls. The award was collected by Jesús Muñoz Prize, Marc Alberti, Carles Comajuncosas, Maria Colomer, Santi Padró and Xavi Torres.

  • Sports and Society Award

BRAZADAS, A DOCUMENTARY ABOUT ELA (BRAZADAS, UN DOCUMENTAL SOBRE L’ELA): a production about the adventure of Daniel Rossinés, who surrounded the island of Menorca to raise funds for the search for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ELA). TThe award was collected byJosep Maria Torné, manager of the UIC, and Albert Gordillo, director of the documentary.

In addition, we have had the special presence of Daniel Rossinés, the protagonist of the documentary; and Juan Carlos Unzué, a renowned former footballer and former coach diagnosed with ELA in 2020, who is involved in research into the disease and in supporting people who suffer from it.

Jordi Fandiño, TV3 journalist, has been the master of ceremonies of this 13th edition of the BCN Sports Film Festival 2023.
