Culture through images: FICTS for the Olympic Day. June 23 is the day when, in Paris in 1894 , the Olympic Games of the Modern Era were born. The “Olympic Day” is celebrated around the world with sport activities, seminars, exhibitions and special initiatives. #OlympicDay is more than just a sports event, it is a day for the world to get active, learn about Olympic values and discover new sports.

FICTS – Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs (recognized by the International Olympic Committee) that promotes the sports values through the images in 116 Countries in the 5 Continents, actively participated in the day promoting a series of screenings, meetings and events finalized to the culture of  Olympism in 16 seats of the Festivals of the “World FICTS Challenge”: Cote d’Azur (France), Barcelona (Spain), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Tehran (I. R. Iran), Beijing (China), Pokhara (Nepal), Tashkent (Uzbekistan), Rotterdam (Netherlands) Lipetsk (Russia), Kampala (Uganda), Liberec (Czech Republic), Zlatibor (Serbia), San Paolo (Brazil), Colombo (Sri Lanka).

The FICTS President Prof. Franco Ascani, Member of the IOC Commission for “Culture and Olympic Heritage” said: “The initiative is part of the program “FICTS Is Culture Through Sports” is the title of the programme aimed to strengthen the link between positive values ​​and the celebration of the Olympic Day through the effective usage of the power of the image sports a priceless heritage for present and future generations founded on the principles of loyalty and honesty”.
