THE “GOLDEN BALL” HRISTO STOICHKOV TO “SPORT MOVIES & TV 2013” ON DECEMBER 4 IN MILANO

The soccer will be the protagonist in “Sport Movies & Tv 2013 – 31st Milano International FICTS Fest” which will take place in Milan from the 4th to 8th December. The FICTS Executive Committee has decided to award former footballer of Barcelona and the Bulgarian National team Hristo Stoichkov with the “Guirlande d’Honneur”, the highest honor of the FICTS “assigned  to those personalities of sport, tv, cinema and journalism whom played a significant role in the promotion of the cultural and ethical values of sports”.

 

On Wednesday December 4th will receive the award during the “Opening Ceremony” (at 6 p.m.) to be held at the Auditorium Testori of Regione Lombardia (Piazza Lombardia angolo Via Melchiorre Gioia 37) .

Hristo Stoichkov, current trainer of Litex Lovech, was the first Bulgarian player to receive the “Golden Ball” in 1994. He is regarded as one of the best footballers of his generation and the greatest Bulgarian footballer of all time. He played thirteen years in the National, as a result, he coached for three years. Pele has included in the “FIFA 100”, the special international ranking which brings together the world’s greatest footballers of all time. Growing up in the CSKA Sofia, one of the most renowned clubs of the country, Stoichkov arrived in 1990 to Barcelona FC trained by Johan Cruyff. He contributed to win more trophies, four consecutive championship, three Spanish Supercup , one European Super Cup and the Champions League in 1992. Along with the players as Michael Laudrup, Romario and Ronald Koeman he set up the “Dream Team” of Barça. After a brief period with Parma Footbal team in Italy, he finish his racing career in the United States .

On Thursday, December 5th at 8.50 p.m. at Palazzo Giureconsulti (Piazza Mercanti, 2 – Piazza Duomo), “core business” of the Festival with workshops, meetings, screenings, shows, etc., will be screen the film “Stoichkov” on his exciting life and sporting career directed by Borislav Kolev and produced by “Camera Ltd” (Bulgaria).
